How does our Platon work?
-
Active Acne
Plasma energy creates radicals which are unstable. In order to stabilize, these radicals attach to acne bacteria molecules causing the molecules to break and turn into carbon dioxide and water, this sterilises the acne bacteria. The treatment also reduces sebum / oil production by 25%
-
Anti-aging
The Plasma Shower handpiece uses electrically-charged plasma ions to correct imbalances in the membrane potential of aged cells. This tightens the cellular membrane and restores the normal operation of cells, which works to firm up and increase the elasticity of loose, aging skin. Plasma energy treats pigmentation by breaking down and scattering melanin.
-
Collagen Remodelling
Plason stimulates blood circulation, lymphatic drainage, as well as fibroblasts, and new more elastic collagen for remodelling. This process strengthens the skin’s elasticity resulting in a supple and more youthful-looking appearance.
It can be used on teenage skin, please note under 18’s require parental approval. It offers an alternative, less invasive method for skin boosting and microneedling treatments that would normally require needling or injecting into the skin.
Platon is completely non-ablative, meaning it does not break the skin. There are no side effects or downtime.
How does Radio Frequency (RF) work?
When radiofrequency energy is conducted through the skin, it penetrates down to the subcutaneous layers, producing an exothermic reaction – meaning it is a catalyst for heat production within the body. In fact, the skin can heat up to 38–40 degrees during radiofrequency treatments.
This has many physiological effects on the dermis, the primary being tightening, firming and brightening, and this is because the thermal reaction causes the contraction of collagen in the short term and collagen synthesis in the long term, tightening the underlying skin structures without damaging the top layer.
As a result of combining electroporation and radio frequency, a double effect can be achieved: improved skin condition, as well as wrinkle smoothing and skin tightening.
Are there any contraindications to radio frequency?
While radiofrequency is widely lauded, it is still limited in its effects. Contraindications include patients who suffer from significant amounts of redundant skin as they will not see the desired results, or patients who suffer from rosacea because they will see exacerbated symptoms due to the additional inflammation that occurs post-radiofrequency treatments.
What is electroporation?
A handpiece will painlessly deliver electromagnetic pulses. These temporarily disrupt skin's intercellular electrical connections so that applied therapeutic substances and preparations can be absorbed deep into the skin layers non-invasively. Active substances, like hyaluronic acid, vitamins, antioxidants skin boosters and other substances can therefore penetrate the skin without the need for traditional injections.
What can you expect?
Your first discussion should clearly set out your expectations and what the practitioner thinks will happen to your skin as a result of a course of treatments. 4-6 treatments is usual. A medical history will be taken. Photographs may also be taken by the practitioner, as a “before and after” for comparison at a later date. Treatment typically takes 40 minutes
Important Pre- Treatment Instructions
● Do NOT consume alcohol for at least 24 hours prior to treatment
● Avoid retinol products, peels or sunbeds for the week before.
Most patients find that they can return to work and normal activities immediately after treatment. However, it must be noted that mild swelling and/or tenderness can persist for up to 3 days. Treatment is generally fairly painless, although some people will feel a slight discomfort or prickling during electroporation. Side effects include minor swelling, redness (caused by the vasodilation).
